They just have an unknown charm. You think they're silly when you first see them....but after you have played them you're addicted for life.

I think it's nice to have certainty. You know who you are going to marry, know they won't reject you, leave you... know you'll have a son, know that you can choose to work or just refuse to and either way there'll be something there. Know what the season's hold, know you won't get sick, know there's no true death (as shown by the cleaning of the graves)... maybe this game's just a strong reassurance of our own spiraling, roller-coaster lives...
Or maybe it's just so cute and fun ^^;;;

I like Harvest Moon because it's a nice change from a lot of games where your main goal is to save the world or kill stuff. Those games are great and all, but Harvest Moon is just unique.

Hmm... Harvest Moon is just a good alternative, I guess. I mean, I have gotten bored of playing some games, like Tales of Symphonia (gasp) and Legend of Zelda (bigger, louder gasp) but Harvest Moon... I don't seem to get bored of at all.

I'm not sure why it's so addicting. I just found it and was like, "this game looks cool", then I played it and it just... WAS. Haha.

well i'm not so sure about why or how it's addicting but when i played my first one I kept saying "Wow this is kinda cool. And I can actually play it!" and it's really unique from all the other things I've played. I'm not killing stuff, trying to not die, or saying "CRAP I CAN'T DO THIS!!!!!" it's a nice refreshing change from all the mayhem of real life and other games.

I don't remember why I picked up BtN all those years ago. I got taken to a place where ... everybody knows your name (Sing it!). It's not so much certainty or anything, it's that utopian smalltown life that everyone wants. Real small towns aren't like that.
I'm just sad that in MM they introduced a rival farmer. I was happy not to have to compete for anything, but I bought the game anyway.
I got addicted because of the peacefulness of it. I can sit there for hours and farm and talk and woo and everything and not really have to worry about a save point or defeating a boss. I can take a moment to set the game aside and do something else without killing myself over what happens next.
All in all, Harvest Moon is really a little vacation. A chance to let your imagination run.
