"So you ... want me to spend time with her?" Cliff asked, flabbergasted. He sputtered a little before falling silent, hands folded in his lap, cup forgotten. The doctor respected him? That was the first time that anyone had said that to him before. Did Alex really mean it? He wasn't one to lie, so he must have meant it ... but Cliff couldn't bring himself to return the smile.
"I'm ... I'm not sure if I'm the ... the right one to do that," he admitted. "I'm not much conversation. Everyone says so. I'm ... quiet and strange. I don't ... She doesn't like me much."
He wanted to tell the doctor that he was a valiant man to want to help Dia so badly to risk gossip from the ladies of the village. He wanted to say that he admired the doctor, but he couldn't. It was too forward. It wasn't his place to offer advice to the doctor of Mineral Town.
"If... if you think it'll help, then I'll ... do whatever you say."

"I don't get up here much. I spend all my time at the beach, even though my shop is never open. I hope to change that this year, if you ever wanna stop by." Her voice crept on him like the subtle scent of the flowers nearby, drifting over his ears like song. Maybe he was being too dramatic, but Dan -was- his cousin, after all.
"It's all right about the yellin'," he said with a smirk. "I get it enough from everyone else I don't hardly notice anymore. What keeps me comin' back is more my secret. I don't tell anyone." He winked and held a finger to his lips.
"Not even roses." He touched the tip of his finger to her smile before jamming the bandanna back onto his head.

Her lips parted slightly as he pulled his finger away from them, her cheeks flushed softly. She could only hope the shadows hid her face well. Even so, she usually got a little red when people touched her, natural reaction she guessed.
"Well, even the beach has a beautiful view comparable to this one at certain times of the day, especially sunset," she mused, "And I may stop by once and a while to your place, though I'm sure I'm a much better cook!" she said, winking.
"Hmmhmm, I guess you do get yelled at a lot," she let out a small giggle, "Especially by a certain poultry farmer, eh? I haven't seen anybody dislike someone they barely know so much! It's ridiculous, quite frankly."

"Eh. Rick's Rick, t' be honest. I just try to bear it for the sake of Popuri." He smiled sheepishly and stretched his arms behind his head, resting them there. "There's things even I can cook better'n Doug. I'm just not around for that Cooking Festival or whatever."
He decided to keep up appearances, feeling a little awkward at the real Kai. So, he leant in, voice soft and rakish. "How do you know he ain't got reason to hate me, Gwen?" How mysterious, and a little disturbing! Kai pulled back and started for the hill's summit, hands jammed into his pockets.

Gwen smirked a bit at Kai's comment. For whatever reason, she had an urge to sing "Kai and Popuri sitting in a tree.." but, she just kept it in her head, cursing her childish impulses. She snorted at his question, he seemed to almost have MPD or something.
"Oh really? Well, maybe he does have a reason to hate you, I wouldn't really know, I don't talk to him that much." she replied, trailing behind him, her arms crossed loosely.

So she was following him still? He smiled a little to himself, a dark look passing over his eyes before it vanished into the stars overhead. "No one does. What would you do if he was jealous?" Rick? Jealous of Popuri? But that would insinuate so many things.
It wasn't so much multiple personalities. He hated people knowing who he really was. It invaded his free thinking and pinned him down more than he already happened to be.
Kai climbed the rocks and stood on the outcropping, letting the wind tug at his bandanna, snap his clothes a little.

Gwen watched him climb up onto the rocks, she shrugged gently, continuing to walk on down the path, slowly. She didn't plan on sticking around much longer, she was getting pretty tired, and the night was getting late for her tastes.
"I don't know," was all she said, "Well, I'm heading back to the Inn now, I tired. Thanks for the...interesting walk, Kai," she said, smiling over her shoulder as she walked away, waving her hand a bit.
Slowly but surely, she walked herself back to the Inn, dragging her feet as she walked through the doors. She said a quick goodnight to her Uncle, who was still working the bar and walked into the room she shared with her cousin. Getting ready for bed quickly before climbing into her warm and cozy bed to have another dreamless sleep.

Kai sat on the very edge of the cliff, letting his legs hang over the side. What would the town do if he let himself show through? He smiled a little and lay back, arms wide as he watched the sky, saying nothing to Gwen as she left.
She was just like all the others, he thought to himself, smile fading. He always thought Popuri was after him because Rick didn't like him. The other girls fawned on him for his good looks and aloof behavior.
He lay there for another hour or two, just staring at the stars. When he got up, it was with resolve, a determination to give Mineral Town just what it thought of him.

Alex was so caught up in the conversation that he and Cliff were having, he didn't even notice when Gwen walked passed him. Dia noticed though, her eyes narrowed and followed Gwen until she couldn't follow her any more. Dia just sat there sipping her water.
Alex rubbed his chin. "Hm, I suppose you could make friends with Dia, it wouldn't hurt. Maybe show her around the winery, I think she'd like that very much! You don't have to do this too often, but it would be nice to get her out of the clinic once in awhile."
Dia heard someone say her name, and turned around. Her eyes darted to Alex then at Cliff, then back to Alex. She hopped out the chair and walked over to their table.
"Alex, I'm tired. I want to go home now." She said in a harsh tone. Alex nodded his head. "I'm sorry Cliff, but it is getting late. I really enjoyed talking to you. Have a good night." Alex stood up and wrapped his arm around Dia's. They both made their way back to the hospital.

Gray sat at the always empty table, located in the far, dark corner. Away from everybody else. A group of girls passed, giggling and whispering. Feh. He jerked his cap down lower over his face, though the he was sure none of them had seen the same grim expression anyways.
Karen, the waitress with the long blonde hair, was probably the only girl who had ever talked to him. But it didn't count. "What will it be this time, Gray?" She asked in the same bored expression.
"...Nothing." A smile flickered across her face, seeing she wouldn't have to act slave until another villager arrived, and she walked away and joined the group of girls. He watched as the villagers formed into the usual groups, chatting away. This town is so... predictable. So boring.

Cliff eyed Dia, though his expression was carefully veiled. Certainly spoilt and he wasn't sure he wanted to be with her at all.
"All right, Doctor. As ... as you say." When they left, he reclined in his chair, looking wholly miserable, blonde tips of hair hanging in his sombre face.

*I don't mean to interrupt, but I just have a quick question: Do we make it a new day? Or do we wait?*

Note: I was going to wait a day to make sure that no one else had anything else they wanted to post. ^^ So ...
------------------------------
A new day dawned on Mineral Town, with Cliff heading to the Church and Kai lazing about the beach. The summer was here, complete with hot weather and the Swimming Festival!

Alex stretched his arms and yawn, he leaned back in his chair and tossed a folder onto his desk. It was such a beautiful day, and here he was cooped up inside of the office looking over papers. He stood up and walked up to the front desk.
"Morning Elli, any messages today? I can't remember if Jeff was coming in today or not. If he does have an appointment, then I'll know to cancel my plans for breakfast at the inn."
Dia left the office early. Alex had ordered her to get out and get some fresh air for at least 30 minutes. She knew exactly where she wanted to go. She opened her black umbrella to protect her skin from the unforgiving sun and made her way over to Saibara’s shop. She had trouble just trying to open the door, but she managed to get it open. She stepped inside and looked around the shop before walking up to his desk. “Um, excuse me, but I was wondering if you could make something for me.?” She said while closing her umbrella and using it as a cane.

Gray looked up, only to find a female. He flushed and jerked his cap lower over his face to hide his eyes. "What would that be?" Gray asked, his low voice only more than a whisper. He swung himself off the stool and wandered over to the counter, rather interested in the steel frame that held it in place.
