Alright back to the basics.
First, let's start with the date. That's really important in harvest moon games.
This symbol stands for 'day'.
So, if you put a number infront of it you know what the day of the month is.
This is 'month'.
Put a number infront of this symbol to tell you which month you are in.
Put them together, 12 4
And you have the 12th day of the 4th month, or April 12th. Note how the day comes before the month. That's how it's normally written in Japan.
Ok, now let's fall back to those 'double meanings'.
The previous two symbols I drew above also have several other meanings.
" Day" also means 'sun', 'Japan', and 'Sunday'.
"Month" also means 'moon' or 'Monday'
That's two days of the week we've learned, so shall we do the others as well?
->Tuesday, also means 'fire'
->Wednesday, also means 'water'
->Thursday, also means 'tree' or 'wood'
->Friday, also means 'metal', 'gold', or 'money'
I know I wrote Saturday down somewhere, but I ca't find it right now. ^_^;; I'll put it up when I find it. If your curious about what it looks like, just open the FOMTFG rom and look at the calendar.
To wrap up lesson 1 of basic terms, I'll post some symbols I think you would need to know for the game.
-> Circle, Yen, smooth, round

-> Holiday

->Rain
-> Small
Once again, I apologize for the VERY bad images. You can find clearer, ad more precise symbols at the previous link I gave out. Hope this helps a bit.
