I'd only like that if they could propose to you again even if you reject it. Instead of them never proposing again their heart should go back down to orange and then they'd propose again if you got it back up.
I still like the idea of the main character proposing since you can see what the villagers say when you show them the Blue Feather and you can get all of the characters' hearts up to red if you wish (and a lot of people do). Overall it's just a lot easier that way.
